First off, thank you so much to everyone for their resounding support of my valentines flower sale. I sold out of flowers every darn day and was left with nothing more than a few stragglers of ridiculously fragrant mamy blue garden roses that never opened and weren't fit for voracious consumption. Desperate men were sent elsewhere at the 11th hour.
Valentines Day post-flower shop was a romantic affair. I went to a friend's house for her annual 30 person dinner party and passed out with exhaustion on the sofa a half an hour in. Micha and I went back to my house at midnight where I cleaned up the week's flower squalor and packed up a suitcase straight until 4am when a car arrived to ferry us to the airport. Middle seated and Mexico bound, I was asleep before take-off and ended up face down on the tray table not long after. You guys wore me out, and thank you for that.
I'm back from Mexico now, with so many things to tell you about. (Those of you who followed along on twitter got a sneak peek thanks to the magic of instagram.) More bougainvillaea to come.

ooo...mexico. sounds like a fabulous vacation! after all the hard work, it must have felt awesome.
ReplyDeletei hope you post some pics of the bouquets that you made...or maybe you have some links to some of them (where other bloggers have posted pics)? :)
Mexico sounds amazing! And like the commenter above I'd love to see photos/links of your bouquets.
ReplyDeleteStill so jealous that you work in a flower shop-- sounds like such a beautiful job. The neighborhood I used to live in Baja California in Mexico had bougainvillea in every single patio, and everyone liked to have it grow on the walls of their home, and there were always petals everywhere... darn, I miss it.

Looking forward to more bougainvillea! It reminds me of growing up in California, we had huge bushes of it growing up our house.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are so beautiful Amy..that why you sold out. By the way...can you recommend a fab spot to buy flowers in Paris?
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I can't wait to see the pictures on a bigger scale. That hotel was so fabulous. I actually still glance at it from time to time.
ReplyDeleteI love bougainvillea. It's been abundant all my life around my home. My neighbours just cut swathes of it down and for a week it's been snowing the most glorious pale rose-peach coloured blossoms all over my courtyard, I love how many colours it comes in!
ReplyDeletelove your blog...Mexico sounds exciting. Look forward to your next post!
ReplyDeleteWish I could have stopped by your flower shop.

^bouquet attempts :)
I recently discovered your blog and fell in love with it! Charm and creativity...can't beat that combination! Thanks to you my dining room now looks like a rain forest...it is filled with terrariums in cloches, glass hearts, antique pressed glass compotes, old glass vases perched on crystal candle holders (as pedestals) and apothecary jars. My sweet daughter and son in law recently collected two bags of moss for me when they visited western Oregon. I have vignettes with bird's nests, shells and an antique madonna grouped with terrariums. Twice I've given a "class" (well, OK, really an excuse to get our hands dirty and drink wine) to friends who loved my terrariums and wanted to make some of their own. You're right: it is addicting! Thank you for the inspiration and for all of your lovely posts. xo ~ Leslie
